About Me

“It would be so much easier for me to put on a little black dress, straighten my hair, and sing about dancing in the club, but it’s not my job to prove anything. I’m here to make music, to inspire myself. I’m not selling my likability, I’m sharing my journeys.” – Solange Knowles (source)

I am not here to show people how to take a ruffled skirt from day to night nor am I here to advocate the importance of expensive jeans or look effortlessly pulled together after three hours of hair, makeup and rain dances to the based gods of pretty. I don’t denounce the importance of the bloggers who do that, that’s what they like and those are their audiences and I’m all for doing what you want.

Glitter Daiquiri began as a clumsy attempt at becoming the next Aimee Song or Natasha Ndlovu but for some fortunate reason turned into a series of creative adventures, be they sartorial or visual art oriented, in working on finding myself and inspiring myself, as well meeting others in this sick, sad world with similar creative aspirations to my own. This fortunate reason may be my personal bildungsroman or an overdose of Tumblr cat memes.

This is not an ordinary fashion, style blog by a vain teen who just bought some really cute leggings from Cotton On (though that does happen) but fashion and other arts have become a cathartic way for me to encapsulate, explore and document the times, issues that affect me and everything and everyone I want to be and meet.

Glitter Daiquiri is for the kids who grew up on Britney and want to retreat into Baduizm hobbit holes every now and then, the kids with scuffed up creepers and velvet chokers who aren’t afraid to break out three gold chains and the moves from Aaliyah’s Are You That Somebody, the kids who care if their pre-ripped jeans visually line up with the purple and red lights of the King Krule music video their making up in their heads.

It’s reinvention, it’s because of the Internet, it’s liberation.
